Eye examination or most commonly known as eye check up is a type of medical consultation conducted by a professional optometrist and usually takes for about 20-30 minutes. Sometimes, the time can be extended depending on the preliminary observation and test result. Patients may also be required to take some extra test to ensure that eye problems are specifically identified and treated properly.

Upon consultation, the doctor will ask several questions concerning your vision. Patients can also freely tell what their eye condition is and the difficulty they are experiencing. That is important in determining the symptoms and the duration of that visual difficulty.

If patients have their eyeglasses or contact lenses already, the optometrist will also need to know the specifics about the eyewear. It will also be asked to be removed during the examination to determine the degree of the eye problem.

The doctor will also ask of the patient’s medical condition and any medication that is currently undergoing. The nature of work and daily activities that may probably related to the cause of the eye problem or visual impairment.

The patient’s eye will be examined from the inside and out for a hundred percent assessment. There is laboratory equipment for a proper eye examination.

Conclusion

That’s it; you are now informed on what is the meaning and process of eye checkup. Remember that it is not that costly as others says, if you feel that you need to go to an optometrist, go ahead. Preventing eye or vision impairment is very important rather than curing an acquired eye problem.
